Abstract. The article examines the role of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) as a leading educational, scholarly, and cultural institution that, over the centuries, has shaped Ukraine’s intellectual elite and contributed significantly to the development of Ukrainian diplomacy. The Academy is presented as an institution that provided training for specialists tasked with performing diplomatic functions across various historical periods, beginning with the era of the Hetmanate, laying the foundations for the virtues of a responsible ambassador of the nation.
Special attention is given to the Academy’s contribution to the establishment of the diplomatic corps whose representatives played a pivotal role in implementing Ukraine’s foreign policy during the Cossack Hetmanate and in the years following its dissolution. Alongside historical personalities, the authors emphasise the contribution of modern graduates of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, who actively defend Ukraine’s national interests on the international stage.
The educational process at NaUKMA is presented as interdisciplinary, based on the integration of academic knowledge with foreign policy practice, active cooperation with diplomatic institutions, and sustained dialogue among students, scholars, and international relations professionals.
In conclusion, the authors assert that the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy remains a strategic institution that faithfully preserves its centuries-old educational traditions while actively responding to the challenges of the modern world. It continues to serve as one of the key centres for training morally responsible and professionally prepared leaders in the field of diplomacy who are capable of upholding Ukraine’s international standing.
